The key art could have been more striking (with a better view of the desert scope) without Grammer who seems to have just been dropped on there (but it seems effective since many comments were made on his presence)
Dolph plays the character very well, the scenes between himself and Christina Villa who plays Rosa and her family are really well done and the heart of the film. Throughout the action scenes are well staged, as you`d expect from all involved, but it`s the second act and the human side of the story that gives this little thriller more de.
Though it is not anything new for most of us; Wanted Man is a well-made pacey film that stars a few heroes from the 80s. For me, I think the film is a fantastic start to 2024 and my year of reviewing, one to definitely add to the watch list for any action fan out there.
Some of this makes me think of THE MECHANIK with the dinner scene for instance...
the film ends up feeling overly satisfying. It’s not often that a movie of this size has such a character-driven narrative, but here we are and Wanted Man delivers the goods in surprising ways. It’s the little film that could, taking its action thriller blueprint and embedding some thoughtful narrative beats and thematic punches that burst like gunfire. It’s well-directed, acted, and developed by Dolph, and if he keeps directing films like Wanted Man, I’ll be lined up for the next dozen.
I really like the Idea of Dolph playing an Anti Hero! A slow pace or a predictable plot does not have to be an issue either. I personally liked the drama in The Mechanik and did not mind that films slow pace with bursts of action. The posted clip in the motel room is really well acted. The prospect of a forced romance subplot makes me a bit worried though.
