That has been rumored for a few years now but who knows if that is going to be made... I don't want it to be made actually... but if John Milius directs it as it says on this site, it makes it more likely than John Woo...

John Woo has dropped the Masters of the Universe project. It had no official funding and Mattel has not given the rights to anyone. Its a dead project unless someone else takes interest. I don't see it happening. The idea got started after the new cartoon came out. It already has been cancelled for a while, so I don't see a potential for this if a cartoon couldn't survive.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE 20th Anniversary

Postby Jox on 07 Jun 2007, 13:37

As you know the 20th anniversary of the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE movie is approaching, and therefore I was wondering about the effect a petition could have if we sent a petition to Warner Home Video asking for them to make a DVD special edition.

I was thinking about the same for the PUNISHER.

They did that for COMMANDO and it turns out a SE is coming out this september: http://www.commandofans.com/home.html

What do you guys think?

Thats a great idea. The TV show "Jericho" was cancelled after the first season. After fans petitioned CBS to bring it back, it will now have a limited run next season. Online petitions really do help and have power these days.

I am not sure what the right online petition site would be the right one in this case. But I will most certainly sign it and link it to He-Man.org forums. There is a huge fan base there and will definitely help with votes.

I want lots of extras with any release if they still can find the material after all these years. There was a special on one of the movie channels (Showtime, HBO, Cinemax maybe), that was a MOTU preview and had an interview with Dolph. I remember him wearing the boots from the film and having a white button down shirt on, so it must of have been on-set. I would love to see this again, it had some good commentary.

Punisher would be great too, but I don't know if the response will be strong enough for it. People are still mad about the skull not showing up.

Personally, I'd like to see a petition to get Penthalon, Retrograde, and I come in Peace to finally come to North American DVDs instead, becuase Masters of the Universe is one of the only Dolph movies I have that actually has special features.

The Punisher might be cool, but I doubt it would happen.

A special edition for THE PUNISHER, MOTU, and I'll throw in SHOWDOWN would be nice but I agree that if we were going to try and rally behind a petition it should be to get I COME IN PEACE released on DVD in Region 1. That is just a huge omission that has to be changed.

But I'd support almost any Lundgren-related movement that this site felt was worth undertaking.

I want to see Penthalon and Retrograde really badly, because I come in Peace at least has an english language DVD out there!

Why RC1? Many of the Dolph DVDs are RC free which is the best option IMHO.

That's true, and much of Lundgren's fanbase is in Europe and Asia. But there are also a lot of folks in the U.S. and Canada who may not have Region Free disc players. It just seems like a natural to have I COME IN PEACE get a region 1 DVD since it would give a little more exposure to what is easily one of his best movies.

Plus the Region 2 disc has the DARK ANGEL title which I don't like at all. Doesn't change the actual film but I just don't like that bland title.

RC free means that it plays on every DVD player, no matter what region (IMHO). So no consumer vexatiousness at all.

Sorry, you're right. Region Free discs do play on all machines. Do you have a link to a place where I COME IN PEACE/DARK ANGEL is available in region free format? I looked at the page on this site for that film but all the links are for region 2, region 4, or are for out of print releases.
