Apparently Dolph's character arc and performance is to surprise audiences and the film will probably have a larger one than usual... so far the film's got the best Dolph rating on IMDB with a 8.8, it will decrease for sure but I hope it stays within the 6-7 range...

Well I don't know how it is doing in Spanish theaters, but when aired on RAI TV, the second part of "The Inquiry" did VERY WELL with 28,96% share of audience (against Spielberg's Terminal) and 7,859,000 viewers.

He doesn't speak very much but he is great. There are even some humour sequences with him...

Status is that executives at Fox have not decided if its going to be released only on DVD or if it will go theatrical. We should know something next month sometime...

THE INQUIRY - the soundtrack

Postby Jox on 26 Apr 2007, 15:13

It's a shame that there was not more Dolph movies scores released as soundtracks. Thankfully Italian composers usually make sure to put their music available (Stefano Mainetti for The Shooter & Silent Trigger for instance) and now you can buy Andrea Morricone's (Ennio's son) score for THE INQUIRY (L'Inchiesta).

Original soundtrack from ambitious Giulio Base historical epic about events following crucifixion of Jesus, made for both theaters & TV, starring Dolph Lundgren, F. Murray Abraham, Max Von Sydow. Andrea Morricone scores for large orchestra with chorus. Interesting architecture allows frequent repetition of motifs, builds cues in hypnotic fashion. Though general weight of score is large scale, composer manages intimate timbre as well. Clarinet, cello just two such solo colors. Ideas for full woodwind section, sometimes with additional French horn also get spotlight. In contrast, solo voice (Yasemin Sannino) appears for locale. Andrea Morricone conducts Czech National Symphony & Coro da Camera di Prague, delivers a knockout!

"The Inquiry" will be out on DVD in Brazil on July 18th, hopefully more will follow soon...

I'm so pissed at Fox Faith, they're still holding up on wether they will release it theatrically or on DVD (which is now more likely) in the US. How come they announced it for April 6th then?! Distributors really know who to fuck up a release, especially of a Dolph film, and in that case even when it's a more prestigious film...

Just found out that "The Inquiry" was released in Italian theaters on June 29th (11 screens, grossed $48,706) with no marketing whatsoever...

It's actually nominated, or is supposed to get an Award at the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest for Best Italian Fiction...

By the way it grossed about $185,000 in Spain (less than 40,000 admissions)
