well the point is they did not encode it for, as they call it, digitized content "online syndication", because I'm sure a trailer will pop up on upcoming Sony DVD titles... the guy who told me this also probably wasn't aware of everything since they seem to have really bad communication between departments... I'll stop there because I don't this forum to become a permanent "bashing Sony discussion" like on VD's...

I know, I don't think all the critisism helps, but for the records, this is their biggest screw up yet as far as a DTV film is concerned. Trouble is, you really can't say anything positive about them, any good DVD covers have been because of the insistance of the stars, like Dolph.

The absence af a trailer is very strange. Especially since there was a trailer floating around some time ago...
And what about that official website that we all saw the framework of ONLINE. Designed and ready to be filled with content.
Why on earth would you make a website for something but never use it.
Not money well spent.

Its just strange.
Maybe thats not Sonys fault. Didnt Dolph end some sort of contract with a PR-firm? Maybe they made the website and cancelled it when the contract ended? Same thing with that new official Dolph-site that made an apperance and vanished?
I´m rambling of topic here. Sorry.

I agree that the forum should not end up being a place for Sony-bashing.
Like you said Jox. The VD boards cover that ground more than enough.

peace.

Sony did not have anything to do with that website, made by the same who were revamping the Dolph's new website. Also Sony being a major company/corporation, this is the kind where there has to be all kinds of approvals to clear any kind of publicity material to be made public...

Also, remember Twelves Stars the company that partnered with Dolph to launch fitness merchandising and new products? well their contact info has been removed from his official site so I bet the deal was canceled...

Too little too late. Excellent job Sony! [sarcastic applause]

If I was a betting man, I'd be pretty quick to put a few bucks on them dishing out a lame trailer, or simply re-encoding the existing one we've all seen.

Well yeah putting out a trailer after the release is beyond lame and therefore I don't even want to hear the reason behind it. But having worked in that field and type of company I can say without doubt that it must have been something stupid, yet political, holding them for making or unleash a trailer. Nothing technical.

Keep us updated Jox, hope its out before the UK release next week. I can't believe Sony, its simply ridiculous, the only people they are causing problems for are themselves by letting fans down. But I am looking forward to it, it will hopefully be very very kick ass and show some cool parts :)

Missionary Man TV Spot in UK

Postby Nathan on 02 Feb 2008, 00:57

Hey,
There was a totally kick ass TV spot for Missionary Man on UK television tonight - it said:

"Who was the original 80's fighting machine?"

and Dolph is all bloodied up with a shotgun and goes

"It's me"

and then the guy says, "Yes, Dolph Lundgren is back and is hellbent on revenge"

then some stuff blows up, Dolph whacks a guy with a bin lid and reloads his shotgun and then it goes

"Missionary Man, on DVD Monday"

Very kick ass and VERRRRRY cool - was a decent length too, to get peoples attention! Just thought I'd let you know that there was some decent promotion, perhaps you could congratulate them for this Jox on your next communication. Thanks.

Wow that sounds pretty cool!

And it's just awesome to have TV spots for it! That's the kind of attention that can draw more people to it! That's what they should have done in the US...

I guess I should try to get in touch with the UK branch of Sony about it.

Hope someone can tape it and/or post it online or something... :D

Btw those interested can get a MM UK poster here (thanks to leigh1975!)

Can't believe I didn't see it! What channel was it on- I know channel 5 has been good for doing DTV action flicks.
