What do you mean don't turn it into a JCVD one?

I guess I half agree with you, I just don't really understand how it never made it into the rental charts, even if people did think it wasn't very good, they couldn't really tell that by the cover and it was a great cover in my opinion. I suppose if Dolph didn't like the movie then he should have promoted it, as long as he takes some time out from preparing Command Performance to promote Direct Contact I'll be happy, unless of course he is filming Command Performance at the time, by which then it wouldn't be a good idea.

I meant a forum with "fans" reading too much into everything, "analyzing" and complaining about every little move and detail, with no knowledge or experience of the context. Things can have a different perspective from the outside. And personally I wouldn't like to be told what to eat for breakfast...

first part of the interview, thanks to Slavkov for the translation
How do you feel in BG for a consecutive time here?
- How do I feel? I feel Good, excited. Every time I come here I feel good.

What's your role this time?
- I play the prisoner Mike, to whom a top secret mission is given by an American gang leader. He has to save his kidnapped daughter - Ana who was brought to Bulgaria. I kill a lot of bad guys and finally fall in love with her.

How's the feeling to work with one of the best directors - Danny Lerner?
- He's a wonderful guy, producer and director. We've known each other for 15 years and it's a pleasure for me to work with such a professional like Danny.

You work with a lot of BG actors, how are they doing??
- I like the BG actors, I've directed a film here and I can say that they are doing as good as any other actors - they are good professionals and they listen to what they;re told. They don't deal very good with English but that's a thing they can learn.

Do you know that one of the actors is a cook and has his own TV show on BG national TV - his name is Uti Bachvarov??
- Yes, I've heard that he's a chief cook in a show. He plays a bad guy in the movie but he seems like a nice guy. I can go to his show some time , to cook something together.

Has he ever cooked you anything delicious?
- No. but I'll be glad if he does!

Like what?
- Steak, I like steak with potatoes- sound simple but it's delicious.

I've heard that you chose Lubo Ganev (BG's most famous ex-volleyball player) for one of the role, are you two friends??
-We've play together in one of my previous films - The Mechanik - I like him, he's great. That's why I offered him for this role. But standing next to him I feel uncomfortable - he's very tall - I may need shoe hills.

Would you try to play volleyball with him?
- Oh, I don't think I'll have a success

What kind of roles do you prefer - to play the good or the bad guy??
- Oh, you know that playing the bad guy is funnier. I prefer playing both roles at the same time. I 'd choose to play the good one more often because the girls like it more.

Is it easy to become a star??
- No, because to if you want to become a star you have to work form morning to evening!!

Dear Dolph: Most of us agree that you rule as a bad guy. Including the girls. Or rather women. So go ahead and have fun as the bad guy!

Take a look at "Lost". The most evil character is Keamy and the girls go mad about him. While the guys are mad at him. ;-)

Here's the complete translation:

DOLPH LUNDGREN
I'M ADDICTED TO WOMEN

Eight years ago the actor Dolph Lundgren shot in Bulgaria " Bridge Of Dragons". Since then he's been returning in our country several times - for shooting "The Mechanik' where he's also the director and for his current project "Direct Contact". In it the 50 year old actor play the good guy again and again gives a lot of kicks to the bad guys who in this case are Uti Bachvarov, Bashar Rahal and Lubo Ganev.
Dolph Lundgren was born in Sweden but is currently living in London with his family. He's greatest dream is to live in a small villa ( country house ) in Spain. He's famous with his films - Rocky 4 , Universal Soldier, Storm Catcher, Red Scorpion, the Shooter, BlackJack. The 2 meters tall Lundgren is the living proof that big muscles not always go along the the brain with the size of a chicken one - he graduated from the Royal Insttute of Technology in Stockholm and he's an engineer-chemist. HE continued his education in Sydney and he even got a doctorate's scholarship for Massachusetts but then we went on a course for actors and that changed his life. On top of it the actor has a black belt in Karate!

Between the blasts on the set the action hero managed to give us this interview:

Is it easy to become a star??

- No, because to if you want to become a star you have to work form morning to evening!!

Do you like our country??
- I like your country a lot and Eastern Europe as a whole. For me it's quite an adventure to be here.

What do you think about the idea of living here??
-Living here? I don't know but a man never knows what may happen.

I know that you be staying here for a month in a personal trailer, so do you sleep alone??
-oooh, what are these questions??

No I just wanted to know if you wife or daughters will be coming??
- Yes my two daughters are in Bulgaria and we are having a lot of fun together.

How do you have fun in Bulgaria??
- I,m having a great time, I've come here 3 times already and I have a lot of friends. We party in the discos with Les.

How do you relax at home??
- I drink beer with friends , I travel a lot, I sleep.

What are you addicted to??
- I don't know, women, women... and sports maybe.

And what about cigarettes and drugs??
- I don't smoke nor I take drugs - I prefer sport and making good movies.

Every actor in Hollywood has his vices - what are yours ?

- My vice is the tequila and now the rakia.

With "shopska" salad (it's some kind of a BG national salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese) ot r without?

- oh yes the shopska salad is nice but I prefer rakia.

In BG you managed to participate in a charity campaign for the children of Mogilino - do you ofter take part in charity causes?
- In the West if you do not do charity they don't take you seriously, charity plays an important part in the lives of the actors.

We've heard you singing on BTV can you sing something for me??
- Oooh, I'm a terrible singer - I don't want to scare you.

You had a project to produce a film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris - what happened?
- This idea's still in my head - to gather the world's greatest action stars to make a "killing" action film- I'll also star and Steven Seagal. For now Chuck confirmed and one day I'll do it - even that may probably be my next film project.

What? That idea was something Dolph threw out when he was in some magazine (I forget wich one) as they did a piece on the old 80´s action stars, but he always says those kinds of things. If he is interviewed in Russia he´ll talk about a future russian project and when he´s in Spain he´ll annonce plans to make a movie there... And then you won´t hear about it again. But this.... I mean... This has to happen! It is litterarly what I dream about at night! That movie. Dolph, JCVD, Chuck Norris and Seagal.
It probably won´t happen though. But it would be insanely cool!

That´s true. They need to do it before they get too old in it just it becomes comical. And Seagal would have to get back in the gym before he was let on set as well.

Barry Evans, who's been working with Dolph since "Direct Action" on the fights. He's a very good Kyokushin Karate instructor and a longtime friend of Dolph.

The fights are pretty simple in this one but I think they want to do more sophisticated stuff in CP if time permits.

Well if the fights are of the same length and style that they were in Direct Action then I'm happy I guess because they were very well directed in Direct Action and taken from nice angles. I do hope they have the time on Command Performance for more complex fights though because I've always said that Dolph's karate skills are seriously underused in his movies, probably thanks to the timescale of the filming period.
