As Jox said, we have no idea what the story is about, but Dolph has mentioned it's about a cop and an assassin. I think Michael Biehn would be great for any role, but in this case, he's roughly the same age as Dolph, has a following in similar circles/projects, could garner financing/interest, still in decent shape and can give a human intensity to a quiet/icy Dolph. And if he got killed it wouldn't be a big shock either, Biehn has like a 60% percent chance of dying in any given movie haha.

Biehn is the man!

ICARUS was discretely pre-sold at the Cannes Film Market by CineTel Films (http://www.cinetelfilms.com)

This story is very vague, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. It might be based on an early script draft, and therefore still subject to change (might have already). We know how licensing companies like to sell movies with wrong stories...

I would love to see Dolph as a bad guy again. Against someone llike Michael biehn or Wesley Snipes. or Mark Dacascos...

Absolutely. Snipes is unavailable, Biehn would be nice but Mark Dacascos is great and would be perfect for martial arts fights.

Biehn or Dacascos would be sweet.

I think it definitely needs a good well known lead, if Dolph is still playing the bad guy.

CineTel picks up Lundgren's 'Icarus'

Company acquires int'l distrib rights to actioner

By JUSTIN KROLL

Film Production and distribution company CineTel Films has acquired international distribution rights to Dolph Lundgren's "Icarus," which is set to start production this fall with Insight Film Studios.

Lundgren will direct and star in the film.

Lundgren previously directed "Missionary Man," among other films, and prior to jumping into the director's chair starred in such actioners as "Universal Soldier" and "The Punisher."

In "Icarus," Lundgren plays a Soviet-trained assassin determined to escape his double life as a hitman and as a husband-father.

Raul Inglis penned the script. Insight Film Studios president Kirk Shaw will produce.

Hey Jox, it says on IMDB that Icarus will begin filming during the Fall/Winter of 2008. Command Performance starts on the 11th of August and will finish filming mid/late September and post-production will take a couple of months at least. Do you think its likely he will start filming Icarus before the end of the year or is this just the late pre-production period? Cheers!! :D

I don't know...

October definitely sounds way too early, even if he jumps on it back to back and uses like 4-5 weeks of prep after the CP production...

What is written here might just be the production co's wishful thinking...

Yeah I thought so. This is one I'm looking forward to, probably the most exciting Dolph project in the last four or five years, after Command Performance, which is one Dolph movie which must be made. 2009 sounds like a good year for Dolph, I hope we get to see him be a bad ass in Icarus but and not see him try and be a do-gooder too early on in the movie!!! Its good that the script is being tweaked which will mean it may go into pre-production by December!! :D

My major worry is the combo of Insight and Cinetel. I've just watched Kill Switch with Seagal, and it was absolutely hideous. I just hope the producers don't ruin Icarus, and stay away from the production. Obviously Seagal would be much to blame, but the editing in KS is some of the worst you'll ever see. So I really hope Icarus does not use the same editor. The cinematography on the other hand was quite good, so there may be an option there for Dolph.

I hope Dolph gets the freedom so he can deliver the goods. The budgets pretty decent thankfully.

I've seen two fights from Kill Switch and I would agree wholeheartedly. I was about to say in my first post, oh no not Cinetel and then I thought, surely that's not the same people that done Kill Switch, so I said nothing. But now that you've confirmed it, I hope they let Dolph do his own edit, they took Seagal and Jeff King's version, recut it, messed it up more than you could imagine, three repeated shots of a guy getting smashed into a mirror all in less than a second, too much for the eyes and Seagal is dubbed constantly. PLEASE CINTEL don't ruin Icarus, let Dolph work his magic ON HIS OWN.
