I don't know why It Waits was not shot but the director Steven R. Monroe went on to film another project called House of 9 starring Dennis Hopper and produced by Bauer Martinez in Romania.

Hm, It Waits is still listed on the imdb but Dolph is the only cast member on that page. Did I miss something? Was it cancelled officially?

And does somebody know why The Defender isn't listed on the imdb? Usually they get all the news very early...

It Waits is from what I've been told at Bauer Martinez "on hold" and they also deleted the webpage from their site, so apparently even if they put it back into production it's not for now. As for IMDB they're not always aware of everything on time, it's me who submitted the last three Dolph movies to imdb in fact! Then other info was added when a project was actually being made.

Dolph answered on his message board that the movie didn't happen ("for several reasons" as he says)

I am a huge fan of Dolph but I can't help thinking he is a bit of a bullshitter! why doesn't he give his fans proper answers. who cares if a diretor said It waits was shit! I still wanted to see that film.

I think it was more due to problems of production rather than artistic views about the project...

IT WAITS

Postby Jox on 19 Nov 2004, 04:05

For those who wanted to know what happened to the project IT WAITS, I just wanted to inform you that Dolph Lundgren is NO LONGER attached to it, but the movie has just been filmed in Canada by the same director with other actors for 1,200,000$ (5 times less than the original budget)

read here http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/article.php?Article=560 or the IMDB page

Well, I saw IT WAITS or what has been left off an aborted Dolph project, and I can say I'm really happy that the Swede got to do "The Defender" instead, because as it is now this is closer to "The Minion" than "Predator".

Given the fact that the script was rewritten for a female lead and that the same director remained attached, it's hard to tell how much different the film would have been had it stayed a Dolph Lundgren vehicle. But it sure didn't help to remodel the script and to lose it's lead (FYI: Dolph's departure is due to financing issues with Bauer Martinez not a casting decision. The project was then taken over by another company).

With a concept like this one, no one would question a Dolph Lundgren being alone in the woods struggling in a "man to man" combat with a demon. But when the decision is made that the main character will be a mid-twenties girl played by an LA-based actress who'd probably should have stayed on the Sunset Strip, then come along the annoying boyfriend wannabe, bad dialogues and terrible backstory with the knowledge in psychology of a 12 year-old...

For its budget, it actually isn't that bad. The cinematography is fair, the pacing has some flaws but the editing is good as well as most of the score (except a few cues and songs performed by the director's wife).

The region 1 DVD is surprisingly enhanced with a 21 minutes promotional featurette as well as an audio commentary by the director and actress. If Dolph isn't mentioned anywhere, the director and the producer Stephen J. Cannell both seem to be happy with the project changes.

They should look back and think again.

It's called IT WAITS and it's a film that Dolph was supposed to star in back in 2003 but it didn't happen. The script was changed and the film was shot without Dolph.

Re: IT WAITS (Steven R. Monroe, 2003) (not produced with Dol

There was another project along with IT WAITS at Bauer Martinez Studios that was also set to be directed by Steven R. Monroe, THE SOUL OF CALEB LEE, which was a psychological thriller in the vein of JACOB'S LADDER and set in a submarine. It was scrapped due to some people dismissing Dolph's audience willing to see him in something like that and that's when THE DEFENDER was launched...
