Can't remember 50 Cent in any movie (or even what he looks like) but sure, Sam Jackson would have been a fantastic replacement. Well, you can't have them all. A shame that Russell turned that down. I'm a bit disappointed... thought he was a cooler guy and tell it to Sly directly.

Also why in the hell did he leave Dolph out, i believe Dolph is a bigger name than Randy Couture...

Yeah, I was a bit upset about that, too.

Moltisanti and dolphage: What's so bad about him being in this "ensemble peace"? I think it's a great chance and it's nice to see him (from time to time) as something different than always the single leading man. I'm still very excited. The only fear that I have (and Sly's omission of Dolph in his list increases that fear) is that his role might be to small. But as long as it is equal to the others I think it's a fantastic thing!

I don't think so, don't read too much into his omission

Nothing. I am incredibly pumped about this movie. I never said I wasn´t. This is the best thing that could happen to DL.

And it IS a little insulting that Sly didn´t mention the Big Guy but he probably just forgot.

I think Dolphs omission is simply down to the fact that his role has been pretty clear since day one. While there's been much confusion over the other roles, and who is who. Plus there's an awful lot to remember cast wise as well. He didn't mention Steve Austin either. Disappointment about Whitaker, though in 50 Cents case, though I've never really liked him. I'll judge him on this film. Plus, he's been shot 9 times, making him officially, a badass, and thus worthy of being in this sucka!

I'm not upset at all that Lundgren is going to be part of an ensemble. I love that aspect of THE EXPENDABLES, especially when you consider he's going to be alongside Sly, Statham, and Li who are probably the three biggest pure-action stars working today. So for Lundgren to be in that company is outstanding.

I was mainly pointing out how weird it was to feel disappointed over the whole "Forest out/50 Cent in" news. Even though I still feel that's a negative in terms of the casting, in the grand scheme of things when you look at the rest of the cast added with the chance to see Lundgren in a major theatrical movie I should stop and remember that the positives of THE EXPENDABLES far outweigh any negatives that have happened at this point.

I think we'd better reserve judgement on 50 Cent (is this a pre-credit crunch valuation?) until we know a little more. But I reserve the right to go 'grrrr! outrage!' if Big D has to fight him and lose. Is that fair?

This is great news. Terry Crews has been doing a good job in films and television for a while now and he completely deserves a chance to have the Caesar role in THE EXPENDABLES. He has mostly done comedies the past few years (and was very funny in IDIOCRACY) but I saw an interview with him a few weeks back where he said he wanted to do more action films. He already has roles in TERMINATOR: SALVATION and Gerard Butler's next action film GAME.

From what little I've read about the Caesar role it seems like a perfect match for Crews. Stroke of genius from Sly.

Kurt Russell turned down a role in The Expendables:

Russell Turned Down Stallone's Expendables Offer
23 March 2009 5:10 AM, PDT

Sylvester Stallone was stunned when he asked his Tango & Cash co-star Kurt Russell to appear in his forthcoming movie The Expendables - after the actor's agent ordered him to make the request by formal letter.

The Rambo star has lined up a stellar cast of Hollywood hardmen for the action-thriller, including Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and rapper 50 Cent.

And Stallone was keen to get his pal Russell on-board - but was staggered by the less-than-friendly response.

He tells his forum StallonZone, "I know that many people on the site have asked for Kurt Russell. I asked for him too.

"Actually, I was taken aback when asked to put the request in a letter and send it to his agent. Subsequently, I was called back by the agent several days later after refusing to send a letter and he said Kurt Russell is not interested in 'ensemble acting' at this time. So, people, I came, I saw, I failed".

---------------

Just like to say that I think it's cool that Sly and Dolph are aware of their fans on the net. Well done guys!!
