I got a question?? Does Dolph as an actor have the power to choose who directs his movies?? I think JC is the one who picks to film his movies, just wondering if Dolph as the same power as JC, because there are so many good DTV directors Dolph hasn't work with yet.

Good question but I don't think it's that simple although technically the producers have the power to choose who directs the movie, who writes it or rewrites it, who stars and co-stars in it, who makes coffee etc.

Now as the big star of his vehicles, Dolph certainly has an influence and weight but a lot of the times it's just that he's OK with the director. But things happen differently on each project: sometimes they just want to work together and start something from an idea with the producers and the director, sometimes he signs later in development or pre-production when everybody's on board etc...

That said Dolph maybe hasn't been as pushy as Van Damme as far to really going after a particular director and that maybe was a mistake in the past. He also didn't have the same ambition and drive as VD who knew exactly what he wanted and went after these guys for a reason, Dolph wasn't calculating this much was still trying to figure out the business and went with what he was give a lot of the times. But from now on he should really be demanding as to who is behind the camera other than him.

But Dolph did not hire Sly to direct THE EXPENDABLES if that's what you're asking!

Well it's good to know. When the Expendables show in theaters i hope Dolph will work with directors who care about making a good quality movie and not just the paycheck, i mean i hope he doesn't go back to movies like diamond dogs and retrograde, it's too important not to make those movies again after being in such a big movie such as the Expendables.

Do u think Dolph will wait for this movie to be released ( expendables ), or will he still make movies? When the Expendables hit theaters maybe other directors or producers will notice him again and will want him in big budget movies as a 3rd or 4th supporting actor like the expendables, will dolph wait or will he still make low budget movies??

Very good question, Warchild. Hope remains that the studios & big-wigs will want to put him in his own theatrical flick after TE happens.

Since TE won't be out until next April he'd probably have time to fit in another film in the late fall or winter before it opens, if he so desires. Though it would be hard to fault him if he takes a bit of break after all the work he has done of late.

The best realistic scenario for after TE opens is that he's good in it and it showcases him to the "major" studios who would be more accepting of giving him supporting roles in theatrical films. I'd be pleased as punch if he could go back and forth between juicy supporting roles in big movies and starring/directing the smaller movies that interest him (though hopefully with slightly higher budgets than he had on MISSIONARY MAN or ICARUS).

First he's gonna be busy for the next few months doing post-production on ICARUS, take care of business on all the day to day things he's got going on, do whatever needs to be done to prep and promote the CP release whenever that is, continue work on his other 2-3 projects etc. I know he could and is thinking of directing another movie before TE comes out but maybe it'll be later who knows...

Mr. Lundgren really has his hands full, as Jox says. There is still Post Production work to be done on Command Performance, as well as still lots on Icarus, so he is definetly a busy man. I doubt that he'll tie himself up with yet another movie before The Expendables premieres, both probably to relax and also to keep his schedule open for bigger and better offers :)
