As of yesterday, Direct Contact is available for purchase in Sweden. Pre-ordered my copy two days ago and I hope to recieve it by tomorrow. Can't wait to see Dolph kick ass in his first movie since Missionary Man :)

Latinoreview has a clip from the movie: http://latinoreview.com/news?id=6973

This, sadly, really reaks of super low budget. The editing is absolutely horrible making the action stale and fake. If it had been edited better, this could have been really bad ass, as the settings looks good and the other actor doesn't seem too shabby for a DTV-minor.

I do agree, chief, the editing and such makes it look like a bad version of Commando. Nonetheless, I'll still rent it.

Good and funny review! However I don´t approve of referring to "Stockholm Syndrome" as "Helsinki Syndrome". I thought that was just a, half famous, movie mistake from Die Hard. Do people actually beleive it´s called "Helsinki Syndrome"?

Direct Contact trailer by me WARNING: INSANELY BADASS!

Postby dolphage on 02 Jun 2009, 00:06

Oh. My. God.

I feel dizzy from sweetness overload. I just put up my DIrect Contact trailer on YouTube.

I am really trying to make this film look good. These are ALL the cool things in that whole movie. Again, I recut it completely (every cut was, at least, tightened) and added some more HEAVY ASS MUSIC (and a few cues of my own).

No voice over, though. It doesn´t need it.

This has taken way too many hours to make (but I do want to support the Big Guy, so...).

Enjoy

Is that why you did such a sudden ending? Lost patience? But otherwise: sweeeeeet! (Though I would have chosen different music).

Enjoy

I did! Few good chuckles there. ;-)

Love what you did with the quiet moments as counterpoints, makes it almost look like a masterpiece.

Thank you. It´s a three-act structure and when you´re making a frantic trailer like this you really need those "breaths" in it. Plus I get all the expostion done in them.

I don´t want to sound like a bigger a-hole than I already am, but I am always surprised at how poorly these movies are edited. I TRIED to put some fluidity in the scenes, where one cut leads into the next automatically. Every single punch, kick and explosion are recut and tightened.

As, you say, I tried to make it seem like an A-movie. It "flows" more like a properly edited film would in this version.

But it´s limited what I can do without the raw footage, sound effects and time to compose original music.

It´s a bit of fun.

I just rented it from a kiosk in a grocery store for $1.

It was better than a lot of Dolph's later films. That being said it was a very stupid movie and just seemed to lack common sense. It did have lots of action scenes that were decent but far from great. The directing was pretty good.

Direct Contact is extremely low budget but it is a passable film.

One thing I didn't like is the DVD had no special features.
