I'd say that DL's making fun of his own persona and being self critical in the sketches etc, is what won the Swedes over.

The Jante Law HAS been changing SLOOOOWLY for a long time. That Dolph, pretty much, turned it all around over night seems more like wishful thinking than astute analysis on her part. Jantelagen still has a couple of more years left in it. Don't get me wrong, it would be great if The Big Guy had that kind of magic power, but it simply isn't realistic.

Besides, Sanna Ehdin studied immunology and is hardly a n authority on the subject. These days she devotes her time to pseudoscience, in particular "energy medicine" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_medicine

What she thinks doesn't really matter but it just reflects on how Dolph has now become a cultural icon in Sweden and as such he's taken more seriously which awesome and unbelievable given how he was still laughed at only a few years ago!

Amen. I am super excited to see everyone that has been laughing at ME and my Dolphamania all these years, now being fans too.

I just get a little annoyed at "argument from authority", as in the fact that she's a professor (of an unrelated area) and the papers consider her an expert on this too. There's just to much of that going on. I wasn't criticizing you, Jox .

. . . forbid! as long as his fans don't patronize him, he's okay. i will be so mad if that happened. i don't think that will happen :D .

I think that, atleast here in Sweden, he has now found a good balance, with him being both cool and hilarious, like with the Elvis performance, but not so over-the-top that he falls into the "parody"-category. Basically, he can make fun of himself, without becoming a caricature (I think that's how you spell it). So as long as he keeps this balance, he's "safe". Not that he should desperately be looking for the approval of the general population, because as you implied, the support of his fans matters more, but still, it's nice to see Dolph finally being appreciated in his home country. :D

No kidding! I can't wait to see that one! I keep watching his Elvis performance over and over. I posted it on my facebook profile and my dad called me not even an hour later just to tell me how great it was! This is good for Dolph!

Yeah, after the Elvis performance, Dolph has pretty much become the Swedish Chuck Norris, and I mean that in a good way. :)

Hello all!

Last nights skit was very funny I think. I love silly stuff like this.
But it's pointless to try and explain it to non swedes as basically all the jokes has something to do with the song contest or swedish TV.

Dolph dressing up as someone else and then being exposed right away is turning in to a running gag. :D

no, it's not the least bit pointless. i think they should translate what they're saying to English on the bottom of the screen.

it looks funny. lowering the volume on the radio, the choir in the background. i would like to understand what they are saying :D .
