We don't know yet, though the odds seem rather against it...

And JCVD comes up with a new excuse for being in the first TE:
ShockYa: You turned down a role in The Expendables, reportedly after Sylvester Stallone personally called and asked you to be in the film, but you are in the sequel. What didn’t fit or wasn’t right the first time around, and what made it a better fit the second time around?

JCVD: This is what people say but it is not actually correct. First, Sylvester Stallone is a great guy, I have always been a big fan of Sly and his films. I would have loved to be in The Expendables. The film turned out really well. At the time I had other commitments that would just not allow me to be in the film.

ShockYa: What can you tell us about your character in The Expendables 2, and whether there is an effort to incorporate as much of your style and ability as possible?

JCVD: At this point I think it is only fair that the producers describe The Expendables 2, but from what I know the film is going to be quite something.

Speaking of Expendable Excuses, is that Seagal/ Avi Lerner feud still stopping the go ahead, or has he simply not been asked again?

I'm not sure, three years ago Danny Lerner told me never again with Seagal but we'll see (don't think Seagal would even do it or he'd have to lock his ego)...

Oh no, please not Seagal. He's his own persiflage nowadays.

Quite the same I would be in favor of a return of Gary Daniels or the apearance of Olivier Gruner, but please, not Seagal !

As much of a twat as Seagal is, I hear he was fine on the Machete set...

Great portrait of Avi Lerner in The Hollywood Reporter, among other things mentions TE2 starting September 19th

Stallone will be paid $15 million for TE2 apparently.

Meanwhile Charisma Carpenter reveals on Twitter she's not gonna be in TE2, her character not being in the script.

Had a sneaky feeling this might happen, the romance in TE1 seemed a little forced but most of all it took away from time developing the other members of the team, I think Sly was trying to win female fans over. It is a pity she isn't in the sequel though as they have now built up a "sub-plot" of sorts, which will not be continued, she would be the perfect damsel in distress for Statham to save and a good "making your work too personal" lecture from Sly and stuff, I think the sequel will be rather different to what we all expect.

Yin Yang wanted to start his own family, right? So he runs off with Lacy. That's why neither of them are in the sequel.

I didn't mind her, she had matured well since her "Buffy" days. I don't think she or the Christmas love life subplot was meant to attract a female audience (who went to see the movie anyway by the way) either. Sly wrote characters who all had to deal with issues and weaknesses in their life and this was what he had to deal with. It just wasn't developed enough.

It was just too forced for a movie like this... a better way to handle back/side stories is just have a "moment" like they did with Mickey Rourke when he was talking about his past to Sly.

p.s. nothing against Charisma... I've always adored her work as an actor. Not a Buffy fan by any means but I loved Angel.

Donnie Yen have been offered in TE2 and had dinner with Avi Lerner about the part it seems, but "but because he currently has a number of projects to choose from, he will not decide until he sees if the script appeals to him or not."

He may do if he has a say in any action sequences... He only took his small roles in Highlander and Blade II because he was hands on behind the scenes with the fight choreography.
