Synapse's will have a 5.1 remix and additional scratch/dirt correction that the Arrow one will not have (and I think the special features won't be the same either, or not completely)

The arrow releases usually have their own exclusive special features. Nothing will be shared between the two, which really sucks. Though synapse is probably going to have the best feature set available. Can't wait to see more on both of the releases.

For those not wanting to buy it twice and not minding waiting a little, the US Blu-ray (+DVD combo) from Synapse really should be the definitive edition, quality and extras-wise (got confirmation again that we got some great stuff cooking). But I too am looking forward to own both editions (that Arrow cover kicks ass just like in the good old days of drawn/painted posters and exploitation flicks)! 8)

I want to pick this up on DVD, I heard the older DVDs were full screen is it possible to get it on widescreen on R2 DVD now?

Only on the Scandinavian Blu-ray/DVD combo, and soon on the upcoming German steelbook (Nov 25) and US edition from Synapse Films (recommended to wait for, best quality and extras, approx first semester of 2012).

Nice. Glad they confirmed ahead of time that the features are indeed 1080p. They have been known to encode in 1080i sometimes, which can be a problem for some in the US. But yeah..... may be buying both editions. :D

My favorite Swedish dinner would be baby seal and whale ass in the summer. But I'd really die for some Chinese."

You scared me! Thankfully that's not the UK edition, it's the Dutch one from DFW (in import on Amazon UK) that came out in the summer, worst cover and bad master used I heard....

This way please 8)

Official news from Don May Jr and Synapse Films 8)
Working on editing the awesome audio commentary for RED SCORPION today! Big thanks to Joseph Zito and Nathaniel Thompson for doing this for us.

Dolph let Synapse (and our supplement producer) into his home... I'm sure he had no idea what he was doing! LOL!

Some interesting surprises with our supplements, for sure. :)

Ours will be on DVD and Blu. We have a totally remastered 2K transfer that has undergone extensive digital restoration exclusively by Synapse (the picture quality is much more awesome), we've done a 5.1 remix, and our supplements will kick MAJOR ass. We'll be announcing very soon.

Savini is in, yes.

Joe Zito goes into such depth about the making of the film and it's really informative and entertaining. SO much great info.

Don May Jr ‎... and we're only 42 minutes in, so far!

Seems the audio commentary will be indeed very different from the UK edition, this one moderated by Mondo Digital's Nathaniel Thompson and the other by a British critic. Man this so great that classic Dolph flick will finally get the deserved treatment and full pack of special features - twice!
