Scott Adkins tweeted he would soon do some ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement or Additional Dialogue Recording) for it so they're still in post-production putting the final touches on the movie...

Help fund the post-production for the self-produced in-depth behind the scenes documentary INTO A NEW MENSION: THE MAKING OF US4 by Doug Magnuson!

Only 3 days to go!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/661 ... ing-of-us4

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

"INTO A NEW DIMENSION: THE MAKING OF US 4" is a documentary that offers a comprehensive look into the rigors of filmmaking, following the story of director John Hyams as he endeavors to bring his vision from page to screen making the feature film "Universal Soldier: Part 4".

background:

Off the momentum of his successful previous effort, "Universal Soldier: Regeneration", director Hyams (Smashing Machine, Rank) was offered a breakthrough opportunity: to direct a follow-up to Regeneration, but this time from an original screenplay. In the weeks that followed he wrote a script and came to Los Angeles to finalize the production schedule, but things would not be so easy. The script was rejected. He would have to start from scratch. I began filming "INTO A NEW DIMENSION" in September 2010, just days after this setback. At the time, shooting was to commence in November. Ultimately, it would not begin until May.

the documentary:

Not simply a look behind the scenes, "INTO A NEW DIMENSION" is a revealing examination of the creative process that takes us on a filmmakers adventure and focuses in on the multifaceted structure behind the camera lens. After following the story through pre-production, I spent every single day on set, documenting the shooting of US4, a highly ambitious action movie done on a relatively low budget. Over the better part of a year I logged over a hundred hours of compelling footage that covers the seemingly endless details of a motion picture production.

So much goes into a film it's simply hard to fathom -- stunts, car chases, special effects, fight scenes, art department, make-up, wardrobe, set life, rehearsals, cinematography, acting -- not to mention US4 was shot in 3D. There are in-depth interviews, candid rehearsals and groundbreaking moments of cinema all held together by Hyams' herculean efforts to do whatever he can to keep everything moving and on course.

Kickstarter

With Kickstarter, we are seeking the funds necessary to cover the post production of this entirely self-financed documentary.

Here's how Kickstarter works: we have two weeks to reach our fundraising goal of $7,500. If we don't raise the entire funding goal by March 1, 2012, the project will be unfunded and we won't get any of the funds pledged (no money changes hands, no credit cards are processed).

Funds raised would cover editing, sound mix, color correction, graphics, licensing, production expenses, fabrication of the DVD, and expenses relating to festival submission, shipping costs and rewards.

With your help -- even a contribution of just one dollar! -- we come closer to making this film a reality. Thank you for your consideration!

For example, the upcoming Jean-Claude Van Damme movie “Universal Soldier: A New Dimension” was produced by Unisol 4 Productions LLC, headquartered in Louisiana, and financed by JJJJ Walker LLC in Baton Rouge, owned by Gregory M. Walker. Walker is listed as an executive producer of the movie, according to the Internet Movie Database. JJJJ Walker LLC paid itself and Walker, its owner, $255,000 in producer and executive producer related-party fees.

The $11.5 million film also listed $1,590,000 in related-party financing fees as a Louisiana expense the movie was able to earn tax credits toward, according to the movie’s audit report.

“Universal Soldier” is hardly alone when it comes to related-party transactions being addressed in the new rules.
“Universal Soldier,” which came through the system under the older set of reporting rules, was given final approval by the state and awarded its $2.9 million in tax credits in November 2011.

Adkins yesterday:
Woke up with huge tonsils after a full day of ADR on Universal Soldier, too much screaming! Film looks fantastic though! Great story with crazy action set pieces, very proud of the film.

Hard to tell, depends of how it's edited, a bit longer or same as in US3.

Ok. Lundgren's screen time in U3 was small but perfectly formed.
Should it be so again it would be ok. :)

I think he shall steal the show in this one too, his big scene seems to be a big crazy monologue (Andrew Scott meets Street Preacher?) and I expect his fight scene with Scott Adkins to be better than the US3 fight. I think his scenes will be better spread out though out the film as well so you won't have to wait an hour to see the D man. VD's role shall be surprising too I think, in a different way.

Yes, the Scott character is awesome. I'm personally not against bad guys roles in future films. 8)

UNISOL 4 is now finally finished!

From director John Hyams:
Just approved our final visual effects shot... the movie is done. The title... UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING

No release date yet. Home video will be in October -- hopefully in the theaters before that.

There had been rumors for a while that UNISOL 4 might eventually be shown at the Action Fest in Asheville, NC where John Hyams' DRAGON EYES will be screened. Now it's not scheduled in the program, but can it be one of the two secret screenings...??? I guess we'll know by Sunday or Monday...
