I have a silly question about the DVD version (yes, I'm not yet on blu ray :( ) for the Red Scorpion. There are a zillion different DVD in france, 99,99% being bootlegs or illegal copies. There is a legit DVD (cover joined) and I'd like to know what it's worth, as well as the english DVD (here or here), available on play.com for a cheap price.
I don't ask for a blu ray type image quality, but not a vhs-to-dvd shitty quality(that i already have on a creepy dvd). :)

Sorry for disturbing ;)

The French DVD you're asking about is in French only, the other two are decent but CUT and 4/3.

But I repeat that the Synapse US special Blu-ray (widescreen & uncut) edition will come with a DVD as well and region-free !!!

;)

It still shows at $26 for me... for Europeans, it's fairly cheap on Planetaxel.com (with free shipping).

Guess the $14.99 price only lasted for yesterday. Glad I jumped on that. Hopefully it'll drop to that again before it comes out.

Knowing amazon, it'll most likely go down in price, especially on the release date. Best bet is to pre-order it through them soon, and you'll get the lowest price... One of the perks of pre-ordering...

Reading Jack Abramoff's autobiography I just found out that Duwayne Dunham, an editor / director who worked closely with David Lynch in the 80s and early 90s, was initially attached to direct RED SCORPION. As I just talked to him I discovered that he was also instrumental in the creative process that lead to the story for the script, whereas the project had started as a documentary on political leader Jonas Savimbi. Dunham worked a lot on the project for a while, and backed from it after a location scout in Africa that persuaded him that it was not for him. Then they went to Joseph Zito (who changed the script quite a bit).
