I don't think he took this one only for the paycheck, it was a different genre and an interesting bad guy role, I haven't seen the movie yet but I read the script and it was good IMO, but if the direction doesn't live up to it, that you can never know beforehand...

If you're in the USA and have Comcast/Infinity cable, you can go to their movie section "Same Day As The Theater" menu and order 'Stash House" to watch for 2 day rental for $6.99. It's actually not a half bad suspense/thriller movie with plenty of screen time for Dolph(first appearing at about the 23 minute mark). Dolph also gets an "Executive Producer" credit at the end of the movie! Check it out. 8)

Unfortunately this is how we felt before EX1 and it seems even after that movie did well at the box office Dolph sill wasn't able to slip back into the mainstream... minus his appearance on "Chuck". If EX2 outdoes EX1 by a wide margin... which I think it will... there's no excuse for him not to be getting into bigger films... if he stays the DTV route after EX2 I'm afraid he will have missed his second coming. :(

I agree. His follow up film from TE1 was In the Name of the King 2... a film that reeked of bad from the get go and was an obvious indicator of a paycheck. We all knew that; it's no surprise that he later admitted it. I understand that he had bills to pay, but this was not the next film fans were hoping for. With Battle of the Damned supposedly starting to film here in a few weeks, I'm getting a serious case of deja vu...

Later we get word that he signed up for three films all back to back -- Stash House, One in the Chamber, and The Package... all projects where he plays a villain of some kind. Granted, the roles are all different in some way and they do provide new unique characters for him, but it just seems apparent that he's latching on to a number of roles to pay for some bills... It makes sense; relatively short shoots in exchange for a paycheck. Unfortunately, in terms of quality, Stash House is not the greatest, and perhaps much of that lays on the director's shoulders... It was a promising concept that really doesn't lift off until the final 20 minutes...

OITC and TP, while short shoots, have slightly better outlooks IMO, so hopefully we'll luck out...

No but my guess is July or August in the US... (don't think they'll wait too long after the limited and VOD run.

It's locked for July 2 in the UK (and in Sweden, Norway as well I believe unless it's June, seen both dates).

Rather positive review
http://bzfilm.com/action-film-reviews/r ... 2-trailer/
I noticed that most of the time when Dolph Lundgren plays villains (and he does not do that often), they’re all interesting and more exciting to watch than his usual macho parts.

With a few exceptions, Lundgren’s villains stand out and they’re memorable (Ivan Drago in Rocky, Street Preacher in Johnny Mnemonic, Andrew Scott in Universal Soldier), and Andy Spector from “Stash House” is somewhere in there as well.

While Lundgren has aged, he still got that look on his face that makes you want to root for him, even when he’s not a hero (Expendables, anyone?).

“Stash House” might be boring for those, expecting Lundgren to tear everything apart like he used to in his earlier films, because here Andy Spector is a cold, calculating villain, that mostly uses his brains to solve problems, instead of muscles.

While Lundgren is the star of the film, others should be mentioned as well. I’ve seen only a few Sean Faris movies, and I admit I like the guy – he gets entertaining projects (Free Runner, Never Back Down, King of Fighters), and “Stash House” is a nice change for both him and Lundgren.

Like already mentioned, “Stash House” is a thriller, which, like every other movie, does have its flaws. For me personally the film could have been 10-15 minutes shorter – some scenes drag, and there’s really not much going on.

The film lacks intensity in some parts (mainly in the middle), and you can handle films that tell the story in only one location (stash house in this case), you can give it a look.

Clearly not a sensational film, but somewhat original and the tension really starts building up towards the end.

I saw him yesterday.

Positive:
For the most part exciting and dramatic.
Dolph shows that he can in the thriller genre to make a good impression.
A good performance from Dolph.
An excellent finale.

Negatives:
Too long and boring beginning.
Unfavorable camera settings.
Too many black and white / (Camera House) settings.
Dolph's role is too short. His psycho character comes too late to light, thereby making the movie from this time really fun.

Conclusion:
A good B-thriller, with a good Dolph Lundgren, he has too little screen time. A lame start, but a furious finale. Be good, but not as good as he could. Like more thriller starring Dolph.

6/10

Sorry for the double post:
More psycho Dolph and a less boring beginning and it would have been the perfect psychological thriller. There was more to it. Nevertheless, I like the movie.
