Hey guys! Viendammage reporting in from San Diego, CA from Comic-Con 2012! Dolph is around a bit, he did a panel for charity in the morning with Terry Crews and Randy Couture. Then not one, but TWO Dolph posters were being given out by Lionsgate for EX II. There was a Con exclusive poster, the 80's throwback one available to 250 lucky attendees. Dolph and company were on hand to sign them.

After Dark Action also had a small table with some flyers for Stash house out.

The Expendables II panel was pretty great. I was so stoked to see Arnold, Dolph, Sly AND Van Damme on my birthday. But when the organizers only set out 5 name tags, I knew in my heart, in my soul and my balls that JCVD was a no show. They played the EX II trailer before bringing out Sly. A highlight reel played to thunderous applause. Terry, Randy and Dolph are introduced. Dolph looks slick in a brown suit and pink shirt. Sly intros Arnold, another great highlight reel plays. Arnold comes out and charms the pants off us. Stories, one liners, jokes, praise for his co-stars, just so great. He and Sly really work well off one another.

Unfortunately, Dolph only spoke once the whole panel and it was about the Rocky IV story, punching Sly in the chest which I'm pretty sure they told during 2010's Con.

It was more or less a love fest between Arnold and Sly. But Crews and Couture were asked questions and had some speaking time. I've seen the moderator before and he kinda sucks so I'm not surprised he stiffed Dolph. People started screaming his name and He-Man and I must break you though to which he acknowledged.

Arnold then received an Inkpot award, a special deal for Comic Con figures who contribute to their respective fields.
I kick ass, or kiss ass... and I'm busting heads! http://viendammage.blogspot.com/

Not good. Many stars, not enough time, this was also the problem of the first part.

The script was shorter than the first one, don't expect a masterpiece, it's a basic storyline and mostly action, but I think it'll work better than the first one for most people.

And on the sequel return of the gang of mercenaries, also including Bruce Willis, Jason Statham and Jet Li--which shot in Bulgaria and cost about $10 million more than the first's $70 million, according to Millennium chief Avi Lerner
So like I thought it was $80 million not 100, and if that's the budget Lerner publicly acknowledges then it's probably even less...

The trick "when doing an film action ensemble with ten tough guys in it," Stallone said, "is how do we showcase all their personalities and keep the most important thing, momentum, you have to keep it going. With the first one, which was more searching, more dramatic, a hard R with some comedy, the audience was not sure what it is. On the second one, you find out what works from the first one and amplify it, you're all on the same page with the tone, you all have the same playbook. The second one if you have it all together, you can surpass the first one. We've achieved that."

I also think that this time it's about the team more. Part one was more or less a buddy movie with Sly and Statham. But I also think that you should definitely go for two hours. After all, these are all legends. Two hours should be possible. :)
PS: Great pictures.

Lundgren joked that he had been looking forward to shooting Van Damme for a while, saying, “It’s about time, I think.”

If you think about the first movie, it was basically a Stallone and Statham buddy movie... then Jet Li... then everyone else. If the team is together from the start of the movie to the end and everyone is sharing the screen instead of running off to do individual stuff, that should more than make up for the runtime.
