I think it's a good trend. You don't need to leave the house to rent a movie and you don't need space to store the media. Plus it's good for the environment. You save a lot of plastic, metal and transportation. Dunno about the energy you need for cloud storage and download capacity though.
There will still be space for special collectors editions for people who want to have something for their shelves. If they don't have books.

With rapidly increasing bandwidth this won't be a problem. I expect 720 or 1080p and language selection. VDSL is on the way.

FAN QUESTION OF THE DAY (from John):
"Was it as much fun as it looked, driving and crashing and blowing up all those super cars in 'Joshua Tree'?"

MY ANSWER:
Yes, a bait scary too. We did a lot of the final chase sequence on a road snaking up a mountain with a 1000-foot drop to the valley below. One of actors threw up out the car window.

Well, I don't know what legislation says about TV torrents but I recommend to buy or rent the DVD. It's a good movie.

Don't worry Shawn might have seen it more times than you or me, his point was that it's airing in HD and because of the movie's situation it has little chances to come out on Blu-ray...

Other than the obvious, what is currently blockading it from getting a Blu-Ray release?

Erm...it appears that Joshua Tree is no longer in ownership obscurity.

Don't make a torrent.

Watch this space. :P

In retrospect, this is one of Dolph's best films. However, I found it very odd for him when it came out because I never heard of it until it made it's premiere on HBO, and he had just come off of Universal Soldier. I didn't get why his follow up was such a small TV movie.

I thought the movie had it's moments, but I was pretty disappointed in the turn in his career. I didn't know just how far south his career would end up going.
