French review: Dolph gets all the laughs! 8)

Translation:
"What's left from the cast? Apart for Dolph Lundgren who pleases with the best comedic sequences, the mercenaries from the first film don't have much to work with under their machine gun"

Same thing here
http://www.excessif.com/cinema/critique ... 0-760.html
"Jean-Claude Van Damme is very amusing in his overacting, Chuck Norris camps the lone cowboys with a lot of confidence and Dolph Lundgren offers most the comic effects on his own.

Give Dolph an interesting role and he always steals the limelight. He's one of those actors that have been pigeonholed, and not in a bad way, almost like Johnny Depp, (leagues apart though obviously,) whereby he will always get the most bizzare parts to play. I would rather he played characters like Andrew Scott, Gunnar or Andrei from OITC for the rest of his career than the dull, uninteresting, auto-pilot characters of Direct Contact and such like. He's never brought his best when given a straight up hero role, in fact in my new kindle book, due out later in the year, I discuss how many action heroes are never given the chance to explore and stretch their acting chops when they are given one dimensional characters to play. And how can they prove to be good actors when they get shit parts? How can you critisize someone for being a bad actor when they've never been allowed to act? (Rant over)

Dolph has a great sense of comedic timing... his drunken bar scene in Red Scorpion is always hilarious whenever I load it up.

DOLPHAN!!!
(that's his swedish nick name)
I guess they feel like he can sell a movie in Sweden again. If it had been ten years ago they would have drawn a black "x" over him in the poster. Redemption for the Big Guy!

Funny! I walked past these very posters today and was THIS close of taking a picture of them for the forum. But then a train came and covered them and I just thought what the fuck.

Cool that they put Dolph up there with the big guys. The posters look great big like that.
There is also some "guerilla-marketing" going on in Stockholm with small versions of the character posters sitting on walls here and there across the city. MIght grab me a Dolph one if the moment presents itself.

Guess who saw the film last night!??? 8)

I can't post my review until the 13th though.

What I will say is that Dolph is hilarious. He's also got a lot more screentime than the first film. He's there all the way through. Like some of the reviews have said, he does steal a lot of his scenes.

Dolph just tweeted a pic from his plane
"Start of the EXPENDABLES 2 EUROPEAN TOUR! On to Madrid with Statham and Van Damme. All right!"
