Not the first day, first showings of the first day! ;)

Saw it today.
Really generous, tremendously entertaining, great acting and characters, funny and gory.
Yet, really forgetable.
Wouldn't have been for the amazing cast, I would have found it so-so.

213 099 admissions on the first day in France, (against 168 327 for the first one) and it's the 9th best start of the year!

By the way I went to see it again yesterday and Dolph's got the best laughs...

It's amazing to me how bad movie going tastes here in the U.S. have become over the last decade or so... here we have some of our greatest movie hero exports tearing it up overseas BO wise and yet here in the states it's doing so-so... sometimes I really hate this new generation of movie go-ers who pack theaters for crap like twilight or hit/run or step up revolution.

Just saw it. SPOILERS below.
Very entertaining film. Lot of laughs and bad ass moments.
So much better than the first one. The banter between Stath and Sly worked better. The team dynamic was better. Yu Nan was very good actually and fit fine among the alfa males. Great one-liners (most of them kinda spoiled by the trailers though). Adkins had some stand out moments. Arnie is always a blast to watch.

Hats off for Van Damme. He was excellent as the villain. His first scene where he has the expendables by the balls and kills Billy was one of my favourite scenes in the movie. Well constructed and awesome acting from JC. And the knife-kicking was just the sort of over the top detail that makes these sort of things work. Short but SWEET final battle. Great action trough out. Simon West shot this one nicely.

Dolph was great with what he had. He is great with comedy. But at the same time you recognized Gunnar from the first film. Not easy considering how much his character changed.
What was a bit of a downer was that Dolph did not have more things to do. I missed a stand out action-moment for him. The thing where he kicked the guy off the ledge was cool but short. Sly, Bruce and Arnold was put in the center of the action as much as possible, which is understandable, but Dolph got short changed as a result.

Over all it was a great action-movie. But a part of me wishes that they stop now and don't make more sequels. The next one needs to be different in order to work. A shamless homage-fest like this can only be done once.

Just saw it...

Ex1 is 10/10 movie in my book. As for the sequel...

Well, I'm not sure why, but it's kind of dissappointment to me. Maybe something about West's directing, or maybe I didn't like the parody/auto-irony aspect of it too much? I dont know. Yes, it was quite pleasant watch, the movie is good, but I was waiting for something so much better...

What I like:
- opening action scene, just great, much better than first action in Ex1
- Van Damme as villa...Vilain was great but too little screentime
- Dolph was present from beginning to the end and he was great
- Statham's fight in a church
- Arnie & Bruce at the end
- Statham Vs Adkins fight

What I did not like:
- Dolph was in a final fight, but he has almost nothing to do in it
- too much poor CGI
- flying into the cave - idiotic
- Chuck Norris using Clint Eastwoo'd's music
- too much not so good jokes
- recycled Van Damme's kick in final fight, clearly same shot used twice.
- finale is much weaker than Ex1 even with Arnie, Bruce and Chuck...
- it is the most ugly looking movie I've seen in a long time - excessive grain, sometimes even looks like it was digital noise or sth... many out of focus shots, blurry image etc.
wonder how it will look on Blu.

Verdict: 7/10.
Maybe will go up after more viewings.
