Awesome news. They'll probably have a reverse cover for this.

The new transfer interests me. With no overscanning and no open mattes the 2.35:1 aspect ratio will finally be the definitive home video transfer the movie needs.

Oh god, can' wait for it. What it's matter for me it's the original cinemascope, dts hd sound and maybe a transfer that will bring the cinema feeling frame - not tvist like the fullscreen.

Hm, watching that shoot-out again makes me realise that Sly has stolen the idea to punch an already burning man. Dolph sets the guy on fire, kicks him and then the guy exlopdes. That's pretty much a (better?) blueprint for that Ex 1 scene, isn't it?

8) Just got confirmation for the Shout! Factory release (with not as much special features as RED SCORPION but enough!), should be officially announced in about a month. 8)

Shout Factory region lock their Blu-rays btw.

There is a strong chance that JT will be Region A only and thus unplayable outside of the US.

It will be a Blu-ray+DVD combo and is set for release on February 26 and is now available to pre-order on Amazon and Importcds (recommended for US imports)! 8)

ImportCDs says Region A.

Most Shout Factory releases are. I am not holding my breath.

I made sure to get player where I can easily change the region (lots of recent Toshiba players can be tricked) in case of situations such as this one.

I have a UK PS3. :?

Locking it to Region A is pointless. Locking new releases that have not been to cinemas in certain territories is understandable for a first-time BD release (re-releases should have the locking removed). But for a 20-year-old movie that barely got released anywhere it would be the most retarded thing ever if they didn't allow it to be played outside of the US.

Sadly, this is likely to happen. Believe me...I so want to be proven wrong.

Yeah that's ridiculous. My understanding is that it comes from some distributors who wouldn't want you to skip their version if they would release it in your country... For instance, I had been contacted by a company last year who's planning for release in Germany, they're the ones who could get in a position to say something if the US edition isn't locked because in their minds that could cause losses if everyone bought it in the US... Still ridiculous as it's been proven imports only concerns hardcore fans for the most part (who might even buy several editions of the same movie)...

I realize this will actually coincide with JOSHUA TREE's 20th anniversary. 8)
