That sounds AWESOME!!!! As happy as I am with the UK version, this sounds like a winner... how much does this sell for?

29.99€ but as I said you feel this baby's weight when you hold it. For what they managed to get and do, that's 30€ I'll pay again anytime (yes I got an advance copy for my contribution but I also ordered one)! ;)

You write that the Blu-ray only has the English audio in compressed Dolby Digital 2.0. It was advertised as also having the English audio in uncompressed DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. Did you make a mistake or is it correct?

I ask you this question because i have this edition on pre order and i will cancel it if it only has the English audio in compressed DD: 2.0. I hope you can find out for certain that if it has the DTS-HD MA 2.0 audio track or not. I would appreciate it.

Hmmm, 25 quid is a bit pricey, but that's a hell of a lot of content. Will check those funds!!! That reminds me... has anybody seen the standard UK DVD version of Punisher????

OMG so sorry, after a new verification (I should know better than checking the box), I inserted the disc again and it's Dolby Digital 2.0 and not DTS-HD. But that shouldn't keep you from getting it (unless you only want the movie).

Hm, that is disappointing. If is is true, i will just buy the UK disc. I want uncompressed audio as it should have.

So, you are sure there is no English DTS-HD MA track? It was supposed to have a DTS-HD MA track and DD: 2.0, so perhaps it just started automatically with DD: 2.0 track? Can you try to change the audio and see?

Yeah the back cover states DTS-HD MA but I tried and could only switch to 3 tracks: German DD 2.0, English DD 2.0 and audio commentary. Not sure why that is... Can you really feel a big difference (especially for an 80s independent movie like this one) between a DD track and a DTS-HD?

To be honest I can notice the difference, DD isn't as full in the speakers as DTS-HD, but in fairness, it doesn't bother me too much... I'm not into all this audio/videophile business that's really taken off with Bluray.

Ok, too bad. I will cancel it now. Every film sounds better when they use uncompressed audio on Blu-ray.

Someone should make a custom edition then.

Too be fair, I saw it in the theatre back then (4 times!) and this one, much like RED SCORPION, was the kind of movie that distributors didn't really care for the quality of prints or couldn't afford a great mix, and the prints (French ones at least) didn't have a fantastic sound like the one of a movie released by a major studio. Even the aspect ratio may have been wronged (even critic turned director Christophe Gans himself laughed at the boom mics showing on screen) I think. So you're almost supposed to see it in bad condition, much like grindhouse movie.

Lots of great info here.

If I only want the movie then uk version is the best option?
Is the blu-ray version of movie in the UK cut compared to the expensive box version?
Thinking of "cutting hand on boat" and restaurant scene with "headshoot on man with glasses" or are these only on workprint version?
Thanks

- The UK edition features the R-rated cut runs 89:05 Mins.

- The German edition Unrated cut (89:16 mins) is uncut and features the shots you're thinking of (re-edited from the Japanese laserdisc)

- The Workprint (93:34 mins) is a longer version of the film while it was still being edited and features the 15 mins prologue, alternate shots and dialogs, alternate ending etc. But this is the non-completed film, with a temporary music score taken from various sources Tangerine Dream's scores like SORCERER, RISKY BUSINESS, Jerry Goldsmith's RAMBO II, maybe James Horner's ALIENS etc...
It's not the director's cut by the way, as it was purposely decided to take off the prologue and start the movie with Frank Castle already being The Punisher.

Thanks :)

So the 89:16 min version isnt in HD.....just a standard dvd?
I guess the scenes from laserdisc is shown in different/poorer quality compared to the rest of the movie?
