Reviews have been good so far. Though a few seem to unnecessarily pick at the script. This is after all a B pic action-fest at heart really. It's good they're tying a good cause with the film and D is doing a lot of charitable work on the side, but the film itself whilst highlighting the issue is never going to be overtaken by it. It's Lundgren action pic, not a Sean Penn thriller or something. The selling point here is most definitely going to be the action and the cast. Thankfully most reviews acknowledge that it delivers on that front.

I'll be interested to hear if the VOD is actually in its correct format too.

I like the passage in this review:

http://cinapse.co/2015/04/22/dolph-lundgren-tony-jaa-michael-jai-white-get-kicks-skin-trade/

If you like action movies, and you know that one exists with Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White, Ron Perlman, Peter Weller, and Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, then you already know you’re going to watch it.

It actually being good would pretty much just be icing on the cake.

Ladies and gentleman… consider that cake iced as fuck.

If you like tony jaa in this i suggest you check out is films and the new movie from his usual director panna rittakari called vengeance of an assassin released this week by well go USA in america. It is like a cross betweens hardboiled gunplay and the brutal violence of the raid.

Best true Lundgren film in years. A joy to watch. The Lundgren/Jaa fight is what we should have gotten from Lundgren/Li in THE EXPENDABLES. The movie depicts a brutal world and the action is just as brutal. This one delivered.

This one is the real deal. Major props to Dolph for finally getting his passion project off the ground and seeing it done right. Also having a Thai director was a wise move. Fight scenes are all filmed incredibly well. They have a lot of scope to them. Great stuff.

Ekachai Uekrongtham
Be it Action Theatre or action cinema, the Thai theatre doyen/filmmaker always finds joy in what he’s doing, and that’s what keeps him young.
People don’t know that I actually like action. I’ve liked kungfu movies since I was young. In fact, I recently did a stage show in Thailand called Muay Thai Live: The Legend Lives. But I prefer action films where the characters are battling it out for a reason. I like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and even Skyfall, where the action sequences are dramatically driven. The characters are being pushed to the point where words are not enough and they have to physically express themselves. I see action sequences as a very physical form of dialogue.

There are many alpha males in Skin Trade, lots of egos to deal with. The thing is that they are action icons, not just martial arts experts. So what I was trying to do was to tap into their strengths and they were very cooperative and collaborative. It was really easy working with them because we were all trying to do something special.

Wow, comparing Skin Trade and Kung Fu Jungle is way wrong for me (the KGJ flick is an 80's spirited HK turd, and in a good 80's spirit).

Nah do not agree. kung fu jungle is good film. Donnie yen as had a miles better strike rate than Dolph over last few years no question. However agree this skintrade looks good but a lot is down to them getting tony jaa on board. That is why they have risked making a more expensive product.
These are good donnie yen films below. Some of Dolph's later films look so cheap in comparison like command performance with shakey camera.
IP man , ip man2, kill zone, flash point, special identity , kung fu jungle,
Is 80s - early 90s film were good also like
In line of duty, tiger cage , tiger cage 2, drunken tai chi
Vengeance of an assassin I feel would have made a more intetesting comparison. Tony jaa' old action directors film against tony jaa new more american style action film. But then again it got massively underated as for me vengeance of assassin is best action film I have seen this year.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Donnie Yen (Ip Man was an excellent movie, SPL 1 was a good movie, even flashpoint had some good kudos moment in it), but I really disliked this KFG ^^.
I'll post my Skin Trade review in due time though
