Box office results : same number of screen (1), but +215% (from 162$ on 1st weekend to 510 last weekend). On this weekend, it had a better ratio than American Sniper

Great success! :D

I'm happy for those who got to see it on the big screen and understand it's contractual and they have to screen it in that one theater at least for the day and date release, but frankly I would have preferred if it went straight to VOD and in no theaters in the US, since it's just so depressing to look at the gross on Box Office Mojo, it just looks wrong lol.

I agree, on the other hand it gave allowed them to do a bigger promo for it and gave it much more exposure. This VOD before limited theatrical business model seems to work for Magnolia who has been doing it for 3 years so hopefully the VOD and future disc sales will be as good as they should.

By the way, the Thai release seems to have been smaller than expected: it was on about 50-70 screens instead of the 200 as told. Tony, Celina Jade and Ekchai Uekrongtham did a lot to promote it over there but the results are disappointing as well.

I think the release date was a bit unfortunate since Fast and Furious 7 was still dominating the box office all over the world and breaking records, so a smaller movie like Skin Trade has a hard time to compete against a juggernaut like that.

And Tony Jaa was in both, so I would imagine many Thai fans might figure they'll go see Furious 7 instead since it'll be bigger and Tony's in it as well.

And right after that Avengers Age of Ultron came out, two of the biggest movies of the year right after each other, smaller movies just can't compete with them.

Dida, I was waiting for the forum to be back up and running!

Screening this Friday June 5 at the Museum of the Moving Image, Astoria NY as part of the "Fist and Sword" series

Official soundrack page:
MovieScore Media hereby presents the music of Jacob Groth, the Danish composer who wrote the music to the original Stieg Larsson Millennium trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, etc). Directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham, Skin Trade stars Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa and Ron Perlman in an action thriller about human trafficking. The film tells the story of Nick (Lundgren) whose previous investigation on the Russian mob left his family dead. Set on a vendetta, he travels to Bangkok and teams up with a Thai detective (Jaa) to bring down the human trafficking mafia in their Southeast Asian center.

Based on a screenplay originally written by Lundgren himself, Skin Trade spans a haunting and exotic action thriller score by Danish composer Jacob Groth. As the composer puts it “The music is dedicated to the fight against human-trafficking. It’s not only an action-score, but also a score with real themes written for the characters, both the good, the bad and the ugly!” Groth’s score is performed by The Danish Filmharmonics, featuring some of the best musicians of the Nordic countries.

Born in 1951, Jacob Groth is a Danish film composer who is best known for scoring the film trilogy based on Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and a number of award-winning Danish TV series as well as the CBS series Unforgettable. He regularly works with Niels Arden Oplev and Groth received his second Danish Film Academy Award for Oplev’s Worlds Apart, Denmark’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards. The composer is also known for his songs “Would Anybody Die (For Me)“ from The Girl Who Played with Fire and the opening song “Forgiveness” from the DR series The Eagle, both of which have lyrics and vocals by his spouse, Misen Groth.
