They sort of did...

"How about in a ring?"

"I was a former heavyweight champion [in Kyokushin karate]. I think you have my answer."

I'm surprised he answered that question seriously, most actors would have taken the easy way and said something lighthearted, indicating that Rousey would have won.

Well, for me it's not that obvious, he could imply it might be a fair game or she could win (and hif he obviously says he can win, I think he intended to say it lightheartly to the interviewer (but it's writing we're talking about, it never carries the tone he could have answered).

And it's still just an interview, sometimes, if the interviewer is a bad one, you can't take time to make a thoughtful answer and you end up sounding bad.

True.
I don't like these sorts of questions personally.
Is there an off switch to your mouth?

Not an interview with Dolph himself, but his former stunt double Wad Eastwood (not related to Clint), who worked with him on SWEEPERS, BLACKJACK, BRIDGE OF DRAGONS, THE LAST PATROL, and has since become a big time stunt coordinator, doing notably MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 and JACK REACHER 2, doubling daniel Craig in James Bond etc...

What were some of the most memorable experiences being Dolph Lundgren's stunt double?
The Dolph days were so much fun. We used to laugh uncontrollably like teeenagers! He was so much fun to work with and be around and we shared too many fun memories to talk about. We still keep in touch and have remained good old friends!
