EXCLUSIVE: Andrey Ivchenko (Stranger Things) has signed on to star alongside Dolph Lundgren, Luke Wilson, Scout Compton Taylor, Nicky Whelan, Brendan Fehr and Scott Martin in director Shane Dax Taylor’s indie Best Man for Saban Films, which recently entered production in New Mexico.

The film is set on a remote resort amid a wedding where mercenaries take control of the property, watching as the best man, the groom and the wedding party team up to take out the terrorists. Ivchenko plays Viktor, a member of the military and cold-blooded killing machine, who goes with Axel (Martin) and his team to get revenge on Cal (Wilson) and his military pals, Anders (Lundgren) and Bradley (Fehr).

C. Alec Rossel wrote the script, which was based on a story by Daniel Zirilli. Archstone Entertainment’s Michael Slifkin, Scott Martin and Jack Sheehan are producing alongside Daniel Zirilli, with pic’s financiers Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor exec producing for BondIt Media Capital.

Ivchenko played the Russian hitman Grigori in Stranger Things‘ third season. He’s also appeared on such series as Lucifer, Counterpart, Jane the Virgin, The Transporter, Nikita and Falling Skies, and in the film xXx: Return of Xander Cage, among other projects.

Hey, cool to see Dolph is not the baddie in this one. A bit of change. Although I don't know what to expect of this (the last movie I saw of Wilson, 12 Mighty Orphans, was quite nice, with Martin Sheen).

I know Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez (which is admittedly more comedy) was released recently as well, but I'm surprised no one has thought of the Die Hard at a wedding before. I just hope this is decent and not a slap dash attempt with poor action. Getting a bit tired of DTV films now, the drop in quality (and budgets) since even 10 years ago is insane.

While I appreciate the unusual pairing with an actor like Luke Wilson, everything about this so far screams "ultra-generic" and very unappealing / uninteresting. My expectations are just above HARD NIGHT FALLING... Thank god this year we have WANTED MAN to look forward to, which allows everything else to be just bearable.

Looks a bit more thriller than action but a different look for a Dolph movie and the production values/cinematography seem decent!

What I suspected looks to be true... Dolph's role appears to have been added in purely because he was available for three days. His character looks completely tangential and out of place. Very similar to how he was utilized in SECTION 8.

The producers confirmed that the entire film was shot in a mere 10 days (not 18 or 14 but 10)!
