I really wish Dolph played in a drama without any action, without wheapons or whatsoever. I really wish he had a difficult role to play, and it would be a success and a lot of people could recognise him as a great actor....

Do you also think so?

Because, I was reading some reviews from magazine printed on this site and it makes me sick when I see that some films had a good review and when you buy your TV programme, it is written that it is simply bad. I am sorry but I liked The Punisher, I think the version with Jane was really horrible!

Actually I was very happy to see that Johnny Mnemonic was a Tipp (something suggested to watch) with a good review in my TV programme!

Absolutely!

I have been supporting him to get out of the action genre for years and years. Action is not essential to me, some of my favorite scenes in Dolph's movies are actionless. If Clint Eastwood, who used to be laughed at, was able to break through as a drama actor and director, why not Dolph?

I really cross my fingers that "Double or Nothing" gets made...

Just as long as he makes action movies as well! I love it when Dolph branches out, but I've been waiting for quite some time for him to re-reach SILT or The Punisher level of ass kicking. This has yet to be (MM has hopes though).

I think, Dolph in some good drama would look great. Some film where he can show all he can.

Maybe you`re right and Dolph should leave the action genre.

But I associate him so strong with the soldiers, fighters and bodyguards that it would be hard for me to accept his "new" image.

If you look at films like Jill Rips etc he has tried and I think done a very good job. I agree whole heartly with Jox.

Even SILENT TRIGGER and SWEEPERS, whatever you think of the films, were somehow departures and thespian try outs for Dolph... and wait to see his performance in THE INQUIRY, low key and yet skillful...

I love how he has managed to go beyond his type-casting and actually show a range of performances, from the wild and crazy GR-13, to the fun-lovin' Detectve Caine, to the cold murderous-stare of Frank Castle.

People will hate me for this, and it is off topic, but I really hate his performance in Rocky 4. He had the look alright, but his accent was so bad back then, ever time he opened his mouth it hurt my ears! So glad he dropped that accent!

Dolph without action...it sounds weird, I don't know if he would be good (I've not seen Jill Rips)

I don't really get it...his accent was fun, he was supposed to be a Russian guy who barely talks English. You think he didn't do well the Russian accent?

He was supposed to be menacing, which he did much better when his mouth wasn't moving. Nielson was the one who did well with the accent (her best role, as sad as that sounds).

I read everywhere that Fat Slags is terrible. The short scene with Dolph shows how really bad the main "actresses" are. Yuck.

I heard that there were cut scenes from Johnny Mnenonic with a very funny Dolph. Would love to see those! Gosh. Can't somebody bribe the guys who worked on that movie?

His best performances are IMHO when he's really mad (very, very best scene: supermarket in UniSol - can watch that over and over again) or ironic. I'm really not sure if he would be good in a drama because in many scenes where there were certain feelings involved he had a kind of slight clumsiness. Also, he was never believable as a heavy drinker. Looks to healthy and holds bottles in a funny way (Men of War, Sweepers...).

But maybe it is just my taste. When I check out a movie and the IMDB lists it as "drama" I usually avoid it (if the genre description doesn't also include e.g. crime / thriller / sci-fi / action).

Can you imagine Dolph in A River Runs Through It? I don't. But then again I haven't seen that movie. ;-)
