The lack of decent stunts, and explosive action, is gut-wrenching considering the location and the calibre of crews available.

Let's keep in mind that the film was shot in Mongolia with a crew from China, not to be confused with Hong Kong (even though it's the same country now)... To make a film like Chen Kaige's "The Promise" (biggest budget and Chinese hit), which was also co-produced by Moonstone, they had a tough shoot from 6 months to a year, instead of 5 weeks for DD...

Also, it seems they didn't put enough time for prep. Casting was still being done in august with a September start date (yet a common thing in movies)... For The Mechanik, which also had a 4-5 weeks shoot, Dolph already started casting by June with an October start date...

David William seems the kind of bully who will get his way and make it (ie make money) in the movie business in the place of more talented people just because his teeths rips the floor.

Of course, that was until he met Dolph Lundgren

Thank you

Hey,

Just back from a another short sea vacantion.

1. DD is really VIOLENT, not as much as Rambo IV, i was happy with this part anyway.
2. There is 1 explosion, well done.
3. It is the longest fight since Bridge of Dragons.

PS: I'm a usual realistic reviewer and i still want to don't spoil anyone and try to make the fans to buy it, i dont' agree with Tom aprox. 65%

Thanks! I'll have too see it for myself but I'm very worried it will not be released in the USA at all since it is taking a worryingly long time for it to be processed - its been in post since November 2006 and not even an American release date or cover yet :(

The fact that it's been in post since november is quite normal as far as the the time frame of the process... usually count about a year between filming and first release, that's standard for every kind of movie and can vary more or less but there's nothing unusual about that here... as far as US goes, it depends mostly on the distributor's decision to release it quickly or not (I'm sure it already got picked up for distribution)... but I'll never say this enough: equip yourself with an all-region DVD player (or get the appropriate software if it's for a computer)...

ABSOLUTELY! Not only because it makes you independent from where to buy your DVDs but also to show the producers of DVDs and DVD players that

THE CONCEPT OF "REGION CODE" SUCKS BIG TIME!

Region Code = Restriction Code

(Uh, sorry, this is a topic that upsets me every time... I hate unnecessary regulation and harrassement of consumers just because producers want to make more, more, more money and control the market.)

Yeah I've got a multi-region player - otherwise I would have never seen Army of One or any other fantastic action movie like it!

Well I know the Rush Hour movies take about a year and a half but I suppose the timeframe for DD seems longer because MM has had a trailer and a website out before it and is showing more overall progress.

I have seen it and it's not in the same quality as The Mechanik our even The Defender, but there is some nice action like a arena fight in the begining. Dolphs in great shape and dose a good job, but it's the bad acting from some of the other cast that brings it down.

You can't compare both, or let's just say the DD distribution company isn't really pushing on the marketing (they didn't want to collaborate with me on a possible website); and the same could have been the same of MM if Dolph's wasn't pushing: the upcoming MM website (what we saw wasn't supposed to be online yet) is being made by the same people who are making over his official site, not Sony (who's distributing the film)... remember a few years ago nothing (photos, trailers etc) came online about Dolph's films before they were released...

There wasn't much about the Mechanik either before it came out in Greece... and look at the Inquiry, bigger budget, better cast, shot almost one year before DD and yet not released in most countries...

I know it's hard to be patient!

It is hard to be patient yes, especially since the release of a new Dolph movie happens about twice a year, why can't it be every week?

I have another question - I am full of them lol

I'm sure fans will want to know this but don't spoil it if anyone doesn't want to know but - does Dolph simply punch and do throws in the end fight or are there kicks like in Bridge of Dragons?

Thanks

Talking about the dvd regions - the latest Van Damme's Until Death was a great movie on the screener version, he dies, etc, and only in Brasil you can find this version on Dvd and the rest of the version is another one. So there's a lot of crazy things with this and
Dolph's distributors are pretty out of range!

off-topic but since you're mentioning it i heard Until Death would be released in a 2 discs special edition in Germany including this alternative (probably better) ending...
