Ah, that is so true. The disadvantage of being female is: noone is bold enough to ask me why the hell I'm buying a film like this. Even my friends just shake their heads and smile an unbelievable smile when I show them my collection. They even buy Maximum Potential for me when they stumble upon it. ;-)

I totally understand your point here, how many times was looked upon as if I was just coming out from the asylum by clerks who barely knew who Dolph was and didn't even had his flicks in stock?! And this was years ago, now 20 something dudes most likely didn't even dare watching those "old" and "cheap" movies (except some exceptions of course)...

Today's Dolph interview from The Adam Carolla Show!

Usual stuff is discussed but the show is kinda funny

Adam was a boxing trainer before getting into comedic radio and TV (He stars in the independent boxing film The Hammer coming out soon), so the interview focused mainly on Rocky IV

8:15 AM – DOLPH LUNGREN CALLS IN

Dolph Lungren calls into the studio from Cabo San Lucas this morning Adam is impressed to learn Dolph earned a Masters Degree in chemical engineering from MIT. Adam says, “Talk about being a renaissance man.” Dolph talks about how he started out in the business, he was friends with Grace Jones who helped him get an audition for the movie, Rocky and the rest is history!!

You won’t want to miss seeing Dolph in his newest movie, Missionary Man, an action movie which Dolph actually wrote and directed himself!! Catch it on DVD, out in stores today!

My personal review, having JUST finished watching it... and cause i'm really tired, I'm only doing it in point note form:

-moody, kinda creepy (Dolph's character is almost ghost like at times)
-Had no problems with smaller actors like others did
-Incredible camerawork
-Borderline arthouse cinema
-may very well be Dolph's best. Period.

Rent it. NOW.

This is going to make me very unpopular around here but I didn't care for the film. Found it to be a step back for Lundgren as a director and not in the same league with THE MECHANIK.

Everything is shot way too close up. This really hurts the early fight scenes as they feel extremely repetitive. Things picked up a little when the biker gang comes to town but even that showdown has nothing on the set pieces in THE MECHANIK.

Dolph's character was interesting, but there's nothing for him to play off of.

I'm really bummed to have that opinion. I thought this was going to be a slam dunk. Hopefully he'll get his assassin project off the ground quick so I can get optimistic for the future.

No worries dude, you're part of the community and are absolutely are entitled to your opinion, and it seems the direction Dolph gave to MM won't make an unanimous crowd pleaser....

Plenty of interviews out there, definitely seems to be piling even more on than the Mechanik. Hopefully this means good rental numbers, and thus a better budget for his next film.

That would be such a great thing because unlike what we could have thought his budgets went down since "The Defender"... so if Sony wants him to deliver another DTV to win quick cash flow, then they'd better give him more time and money! Or else I'm gonna go 'mechanic' on them...

Other than that good to know he'll be acting in a new film this spring apparently...

I'm not exactly sure why a trailer was not created for Missionary Man.
